The 2005 British Open Shogi Championships were held on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th May at Netherhall School in Cambridge, UK, as part of the MSO Cambridge 2005 weekend. The tournament was a very close competition with Tony Hosking narrowly beating Andy Hammond to the title, and Kingsley Pratt winning the knock-out competition and securing a place in the British Shogi Team travelling to Japan in October 2005. We also had the first tied game in the British Shogi Championships for many years when Justin Hollingworth and Ian Spence both achieved 'entering Kings' while both were in byoyomi.
We hope to again be part of MSO Cambridge in 2006.
